So Musk announces/launches autonomous shuttles and taxis, and a humanoid robot. Even if it's just PR for now, it's only a matter of time before they start operating, and will lead, gradually then suddenly, to a collapse of various sectors and the job market (think of handymen, hospitality, drivers etc.). But the biggest impact will be on human relations: with some more advanced versions down the line, robots can replace (though they can never be a substitute for) professional and intimate relationships. I don't think this is doomsdayism, but tell me if I'm overly pessimistic. The global impact all of this will have, along with an ever-more-powerful AI, is not to be underestimated. Feels like we are entering a new era of humankind, and we have no idea yet about its side effects. The changes are going to be so fundamental as the times before and after the industrial revolution. Are regulators, and societies, ready for this...?
